Ultimap chips
Has anyone else had problems with these chips?
I bought one last year fitted/dyno'd. I was told it was right but it never quite seemed perfect !
I explained running problems to Tony at 2-4-Italia and he did a bit of work on it only to discover the chip was naff !!!!
Has anyone else had this or had any probs with getting a refund?

Chips
Scoot,
Thanks for reply, it seems some of the various "specialists" have varying degrees of success !!!!
What BHP did you get at JHP compared to 2-4 ?

the bhp went from 110 to 119 but the way it changed and how smooth it was and it does not drop of untill 11000 rpm

torque up as well but only by 5/6 ftlb making about 65ftlb at 8500 rpm.

this was after it was dynoed just shows you what a diffrence setting it up right will give you

My 916 came with 50mm cans and a unfitted FIM chip (ducati one fitted)

On trying to find out more info about FIM, I emailed ULTIMAP/FIM (Australia) to be told I had an earlier version of the 916 chip and to take it to my nearest FIM supplier and they would replace it free with the latest type.
Had it swaped over without any complaint(Pro-twins), plugged it in and it was great, next step is to have it tuned.

End result I was impressed by FIM customer service and the chip.

Thanks for valuable info guys.
I'll get onto Pro twins asap. Hopefully they can give me a rough BHP/Torque figure as now although power is very smooth and all the way to 11000 it is only 90 at the rear on a 748 BP !?
Cheers

90 at the back wheel, won't be far off. Take a look here UM091 graph on the FIM website .
It's making about 93 ish.
It's the delivery and the extra rpm you'll notice most.
I've got one in mine and it's great. It's easier to set up IMO to. You notice the twin mapping on the CO meter straight away compared to the conventional eproms.

I've had two ultimap chips in the 996 the first was a straight swap for the DP chip a UM196 this knocked the 6bhp off the top end but made the engine run smoother. After contacting ProVtwins it was discovered that the wrong chip had been supplied and they swapped it for a UM222, single injector chip. Once this was fitted the bike pulls harder from any revs runs smoother with no coughing and spluttering were the second injector would normally cut in and it now revs clean to 11k and has 118bhp at the rw.

I would definately recommend ProVtwins for FIM chips they seem to know what works and what doesn't.
