Question oil light 1098

when turning the ignition on, the nuetral light and the oil come on ,,,but the oil light only goes out when starting the bike up ,is this right,,,i thought it went out before starting the bike up?????

Sound ok to me.
The oil light goes out when there's oil pressure.
