749 front brake

just been giving my 749s the "look over" after the 6K service it is a 5 month old 2004 model. noticed the front brake was slightly stuck on, it loosened off after moving it foward. then noticed that the front discs are not "solid mounted" ie the contact part of the disc can be moved slightly by hand when the rest of the assy dosn't, it moves slightly on the 10 fixings to the bolted part of the disc.
is this the norm?

Mark

It's a semi floating (or floating) disk. See another thread about that in the "today" posts. Basically, it alows allows for expansion in the disk, otherwise the disk would warp as soon as it gets hot.

As regards the caliper, they can stick sometimes. Difficult to clean, but I would have thought it'd be checked over at sevice, surely it is part of th e schedule anyway? Dirt can (and will) build up on the exposed part of the pistons and stops them sliding smoothly back into the seals.
