\'04 749s in BIKE - confused

BIKE magazine December 2003.

Ducati 749s first ride.

Quote
"The 999's baby brother gets the Testastretta treatment..."
"This year both the 749 and the 749S shared the same engine but, following the 999's lead, next years' 749S features the narrow Testastretta heads"

My 749S is a parallel bought back in May 03. the fairing says Testastretta under the 749S badge. My '03 catalogue shows the bike with Testastretta under the badge.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Nope, just the Bike journo's not having a clue what they are talking about,as normal.

I think the '04 749s has had some work done to the heads to give it some more power, but thats it.

hmmm - tend to agree. My Italian speaking wife has just pointed out to me that Testastretta means tight head!

I've got one of the first 749S and it is definitely a testrastretta engine.I read the same article and thought what's going on here. The onein MCN stated that they have reworked a few bits in the engine to give a bit more power to compete with 600s.
