Tessi heads on to 996?

Does anyone know if it is possible to build a set of late 998 top ends, barrels, heads and such to a 996 crankcase. Does the late bore mean the cylinder bolts are too narrow for the 996 cases?

Thanks,

Rob

I'm probably wrong, but i think they have a different crank case, sump, stroke but to name a few. There is 999R engine with puts out 150 bhp on ebay. That is quite a cheap performance gain.

Rob, I suspect the answer is NO, the whole idea of going to the Testastretta design was to allow the valve sizes to be increased, hence also going to a shorter stroke and larger bore. better off doing what I have done and fit the whole 998 engine, but you will also need Exhaust, injection, airbox, ECU and harness.

From what you have just said, the 996 and the 998's are intechangeable in the early frame.

I have just dropped a 996 into my 888 frame and was just wondering about other options.

Thanks,

Rob
