Ally Radiators

I am about to see if I can successfully conver a 996 ally rad to fit the 888. It'll need a neck welding in and a mod to the lower water exit pipe. It'll also mean relocating the fan to the opposite side.

Why bother? 888 rads are rear S/H, new ones are >£800. 9xx rads are £50 used so I think the math makes sense alone.

Anyone else interested if it works well?

Rgds, Rob

PS. I have just put Samco silicon hoses on the bike so I have a full set of standard hoses, the majority of which have only been on the bike six months. Any takers for £25 plus P&P? That's the price of the top hose alone BTW.

Rob, I did a similar job for a customer last year. I used a ST rad.
Remember though, the SBK rads and ST's are curved. This will cause big problems with mounting and clearances etc if yours has the flat rad fitted.
It's not a job I'd carry out on a "mint" bike, IMO, as it doesn't look that pretty and would detract from the value, authenticity etc . The rad sizes are also smaller, slightly. This was OK on the bike I did as it was track day only but road riding could cause problems in town etc.

If your bike has a flat rad, then I have a brand new one for a lot less than £800

Hoses Pics

Samco in bright blue!! If I'd have given it any though at all, Doh, I might have gone for black or red. They'll make any colour you like.

Garage, I like to think of it as my "Grown Ups" toy box.

888 curved rads at £800 eh-hmmm, that means the 888 rad that is currently on my Gilera Saturno is worth about 1/2 what the whole bike is.............................
