Mood: Privileged ...
From position "zero" (fully screwed ---> clockwise )

- Compression : 6th click (anticlockwise)
- Rebund : 4th click ( "")

The max. value is 14 clicks, corresponding to the min. damping position.

Springs preload can vary between 25 and 10 mm.
The factory presetting corresponds to 18 mm

I got the following from Maxton when I asked them about the 888 suspension.

FRONT

The forks have a lot compression damping, especially when the forks more a small distance - over small bumps on the road. This shows itself by giving a very hard and twitchy ride at the front. It is not a spring rate problem and just changing the springs will not cure the problem, the springs are actually a bit soft so the forks bottom out under braking. The other problem is the forks spring back at you when you let go of the brake this is because there is not enough rebound damping. We revalve and respring the forks reducing the compression damping and increasing the rebound damping so the bike is a lot more compliant and holds a line a lot better out of corners, we also fit harder sprigs to suit the riders weight and what they use the bike for. The conversion costs £240.00 plus Seals £20.00 a pair and Bushes £10.00 each if needed. ALL PRICES EXCLUDE V.A.T.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

REAR

The standard Showa rear unit is not too bad and if using the bike for the road is worth modifying, the Ohlins model is a good designed unit but in our opinion is not set up correctly internally - both units are set up very similar. The spring rate on both units is slightly too hard for the average rider weight, but the big problem is in the damping. There is too much compression damping so like the front the bike "Kicks off" small bumps in the road, but there is also not enough rebound damping so the bike springs back at you very quickly when returning which also can cause you to be thrown from the seat on big bumps. We revalve and respring both units to suit your rider weight and what you use the bike for and this costs £130.00 plus V.A.T, if you are racing the bike it is worth replacing the Showa unit. We supply a Maxton replacement unit which is a fully adjustable, alloy bodied, high pressure gas unit that adjusts via shim stack system. The unit has a spring to suit your rider weight and to suit what type of riding you do. The unit costs £405.00 but we also make a piggy back remote reservoir unit that has a second compression adjuster which costs £480.00. ALL PRICES EXCLUDE V.A.T.
