I can't believe you lot. That's outrageous, although my sister was recently searching for my plastic cookery funnel and I had to admit I'd used it to put oil in my bike. So how good is a dishwasher at getting stuff clean, really? I can't see a problem with using the oven to dry stuff out, to be honest. Just make sure you don't overcook it.

Dish washers will spray very hot water, 60 odd degree's, including detergents at the dirty engine parts for ages.

Works very well.

Did you manage to divert her attention while you unloaded the offending (but sparkly clean) item, did she rumble you or did you just come clean (pun intended)?

Is there a list somewhere of parts that are dishwasher-safe? And one for items that are not?
I have sole custody of my dishwasher at present, and I'm intrigued at the thought of additional uses I can put it to. It's clearly under-utilised at the moment!

I certainly tried sealing my loose calipers up and dropping them in a bucket with a dishwasher tablet and they came up a treat! Not sure if they would be 'dishwasher' safe though - cracking idea mind.
