Most of the DD bikes were tested at Cadwell and were giving readings of arround 90db - yet I understand that people at a recent track day at CC were tested at close to 105db. Would appear there are noise tests and there are noise tests!

Compared to many race bikes the DD machines are comparatively quiet so I guess it's fingers crossed (and pack a few brillo pads).

Fair point Ian, I wonder if the CC testing is less tolerant than other places? I didn't actually get to see the reading on the digical fingy.

But those watching did say that mine was louder than most out there.

I have been to Castle Combe several times either racing myself or helping mates that are racing. At CC they only get 3 or 4 Noisey days for running the bikes and all are reserved for racedays, where the ACU limits apply, in our case 105dB at 5500rpm, measured at 45 degrees to the exhaust outlet at a distance of 50cm.
CC own trackday test are usually measured differnt to this very often in line with the exhaust outlet or at higher revs.
I'm not worrying about mine, both my TL and 916 were louder and I never had a problem with them on race day.

Well I was surprised that it measured 105db on their equipment, but they were asking me to hold the revs at 7K - they must've thought she was a rice burner!!!

The bit that worries me is on the regs that have just come :

''Any machine which fails the test will not be permitted to race''

Does that mean I won't be able to go away - fit db killers - then go back to test again ?
Those of us without rev counters - how they gonna know what revs ?

Nah - you'll get the chance to fit baffles and then retest if it fails.
