Ducati Service

Looking for some opinions on where best to get my 748r-2002 first major service...at 3.5k on the clock

JHP?
Protwins?
Ron Parkinsons?

Anyone have any good or bad experiences?

Thanks

Ash

Hi Ashley,

Had my 996 serviced at Parkinsons last year, belts ect and some new clutch bits.
No complaints. I can recomend a mechanic there called Glenn. He seems to know his stuff.

For a 748, Baines Racing. At Silverstone if the bike's in UK - but as I said elsewhere, if the bike's in Jersey John Baines could pick it up from a French channel port.

Cool.... just trying to weigh it up cost wise Vs credible duke mechanics. Something tells ms that I may need to sell a kidney on ebay to fund it's first trip to the doctors.

JHP wanted £700+vat for standard first main service + also recommended replacing the valves at the same time (?), whilst RP explained £400inc VAT for belts replacement which includes a full service. However, JHP did say that without seeing the bike, it's impossible to put a price on it - totally understand their point here. The good thing about it going to JHP is that they were the ones who did the 853 conversion.

One of my work mates has a 748r over here, who usually uses Protwins in Surrey for any Duke bits and bobs, who winced at the price from JHP for belts and full first service - he thought it was a little on the deer side.

Bugeted £1200-1500 in readiness for a phone call from whoever, as looking to get belts, bike-trac and an alarm. Something tells me that if JHP get their hands on it, it may be closer to £2k. I guess if they do the valves, then more.

Cobbett, bike in Essex - thanks anyway. However, I will pass on details to my other mate, who has moved to Jersey and is bringing his 748r with him early summer.

If the bike is in Essex then you could also try Carl harrison in Norfolk, he has looked after all of mine and is first class.

Mood: Finally gotten over the 748R getting stolen thing. Actually, no i haven't !
I've had a 748R '02 serviced at JHP ,(12k service)
They quoted 690 and apart from the fact that i added getting the cams dialled in they charged what they quoted.
This is not the case with others i have used in the past including the guys in Godstone.
You know what you are getting with JHP.

Replacing the valves though, why ?
