Tuning a 916SPS?

Hi all!

I have done some racing in a open 1000cc series in Sweden with my SPS with mixed success, but those GSXR1000's are quite fast down the straights..

I'm thinking about some tuning, anyone done bigger valves (37/32) with the stock cams? perhaps hi-comp omega pistons too?

Not so keen on big cams (431/G etc.) high revs tend to stress the bits a bit too much for my needs..

Squish (0,95mm) and cam timing (factory spec) is allready done.. chassi-wise it's sorted now: Öhlins everywhere (new R&T fork last week), Mag wheels and 999R radial callipers..

Input pleeeeease

Some pictures here.. http://ducatisportingclub.com/contro...d.php?tid=3785

(The 999R callipers are not on yet, waiting for new calliper brackets and possible new disc hubs..)

Not totally sure what my 955 motor has in it, but I do know its a Ex Duckhams Ducati Race engine from when Moodie and Simpson use to ride them and looked after by JHP. Will see what the previous owner knows about its spec.

Bj.O.rn, send an e-mail, or call John Hackett at JHP-he's the man to tell you what to do.

Having some engine work done at the moment.
My 916sp3 is having-
the 955 high comp barel/piston kit on...
Inlet valve 2mm larger...
Exhaust 1mm larger...
Same cams but obviously set up correctly...
Head flowed/Crank balanced/lightweight flywheel/stm titanium clutch/corse close ratio gearbox.
Power commander used to sort fueling ect...
Oh and a 54mm exhaust system to boot...
I think that's everything...?

Remind me to let you know what it feels like to the 916sp3 it used to be.

Bike should be back next weekend

Matt
