749 cc

I have read mixed information about the Ducati 749 and im hoping you could set the record straight. Is the 749 a 748cc or 749cc engine? Or do they come in both i.e. they changed after a certain year.

748cc (90 Bore x 58.8 Stroke) unless it's an R model in which case it is 749cc (94 x 54).

Do not confuse it with the 748 model (pre 2004) which looks entirely different, like the 916, and the engine is different too.

The 749 range uses the Testastretta engine, be they 748cc or 749cc.

And dont be confused by just the 1 cc....the size is made up as Ant says of a shorter stroke/ bigger bore...giving a completely different characteristic!

Exactly.

Shorter stroke makes a much quicker revving engine, which will rev higher as I understand things.
