Std 2v ducs only ever need their belts changing 2-yearly, and that gives a very big safety margin.

If you keep the bike out in the sun so it gets temperature-cycled a lot then the rubber degrades (same as your tyres will !) but thats the only tripwire I know of, and its prob only bad in italy

Cool!

May just have to replace the chain and sproks then! Anyone know of a decent place to buy?

Also bobbing some diablos on as well... just quoted £150 fitted and balanced which seems good at leeds bike tyres (off the bike)

Thanks a lot - will look into it

TBH i have been thinking of swapping the 600ss for a 748 but considering i would have to lob 3k into the pot and mine is really nice i am changing my mind - a long ride through masham and leyburn yesterday helped this thought process

I am not especially highly skilled and only just am trying to get my knee down - am currently on sportmax though which i dont think helps - also the seating position seems a long way from the ground! (much longer than my fzr600 trackbike!)

2 years - or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. But as has been said - if they are left in all 'weathers' - like sun, then its prudent to do them sooner

Try some Pirelli Diablo's - will really help the handling

The front id not adjustable,so you if you are not happy with it,you will need to experiment with differant fork springs and oil.I think Hyperpro do,or did, kits for these bikes.
The rear is adjustable for preload and rebound only. Its just a matter of setting the sag then altering the damping to suit you.A shock off a similar age 900SS would give you more adjustment.
Std settings should be in your handbook.

Yep,the collars you adjust with C spanners are the preload.(Use these to set the sag)
The dial,(is it a dial,or screw?) is for the rebound.
