Generator for tire warmers

Gentlemen,

Does any of you use a generator for the tire warmers when a power outlet is not available (e.g. foreign tracks)? I have diamond tire warmers, with a consumption of approx. 1200W and was wondering if you had any recommendations on petrol-powered generators.

Ciao, Mario

Mario I have only been to Almeria and Cartagena, both had plenty of power supplies.
If you are just looking to run 1 set of warmers, a 2.2 kva will do you nicely. Go for the Honda engined genny, try to avoid the cheap import ones with cheap alternators and engines.

Lucky *******s! Of the five tracks we visit in our regional club racing series, only one has plentiful access to power. Everywhere else we just share generators and motorhome outlets. One generator often runs several sets of warmers, so I don't think they are overly taxing on output. Don't know what minimum generator specs have to be, but it won't be anything too heavy duty or unusual. And yes, Honda does make pretty well respected generators.

Dunno about "foreign" circuits .... my local on eis Cadwell where the paddock has only recently been tarmacked. No garages and no power outlets.

Brilliant circuit though, I consider myself very lucky to be so close.

On gennies ... go for at least 2kW because you don;t want to run near 100% capacity all day. Honda engined are the better ones. I borrow an old battered Honda engined genny from a neighbour, and it starts easy and goes all day. It's well battered and abused as it gets used on a building site the rest of the time.

Get down to your local Tool Hire shop, speak to the manager, do a deal, cheap or free hire of a 2.2kva genny for advertising space on your bike. Have you noticed how many Transit vans in the paddock have builders, plumbers, electricians names etc plastered all over them, thay all use tool hire shops for hiring breakers, drills scaffolding etc, good cheap advertising for the Tool Hire shop

Chris.
