I'd be interseted to hear what you think about the final colour scheme. The lack of decals may be a little bland/subtle, but as the bike its a bitsa, in the end, I decided that I didn't want it to end up as an SPS or SP4 wanabee.

I like it. Don't like to hear it described as a 'bitza' though, that phrase smacks of shoehorning TL1000 lumps or summat into 916's (or going back to my childhood the Tribsas, Norbsas and Tritons where the engine was never, ever designed to fit that frame)

With a 996 engine that uses the same basic crankcases, pretty much the same engine design, with the same heritage but just a few evolutionary steps along the road I think that bikes like this retain their integrity.

I hope so anyway, because I'd like to do something similar to mine in the fullness of time - keeping all the original bits of course

Looks very nice to me. Its seems a shame though to cover up all the nicely shiny "mechanical gubbins" with the (admittedly equally shiny) bodywork!

Why did you fit extensions between the yellow rear fork and ball joints ??? The bike fits the rocking lever assy. with excentrics ...

You might be disappointed when riding if you don't adjust the rocking lever ???

Can you explain ???

I might be wrong, but from my experience with racecar suspension design. I think the rocking lever is set/adjusted to give a rocker ratio that changes the rising/falling rate. I wanted rear ride height, thus the added length of the hoop.

That's the way they do the hose on many of the period 8xx race bikes. I could have wrapped it right around the top of the swing arn and down, anti clockwise, (I used to have it that way on the other floater) but I fancied the "rep" look with the mini caliper.
