1000 SS Power

What sort of power does the 1000 SS have as standard, also wondering if there are any big bore kits around and maybe what power can be coaxed out of them ?

Thanks

Jhp do a 1080 bigbore kit and seeing as a 944 can put out 100.2 bhp (with testarossa heads) i would have thought 110 would be on the cards.

I wouldn't say getting 100 ponies out of a 900 was easy. You'd be better off using the 1000DS engine as your base for that - IMO. I would anyway.

That would be a pretty good bike I reckon! Have a look at the NCR I posted in the Thunderbike thread.

Out of the box a 1000 delivers 85-88bhp. Close to 100bhp is easily attainable with the 1000DS using pipes, filter and an FIM Ultimap setup. I'm possibly buying myself a 1000SS for racing next year or road use.

What class would you race it in Nige?

The more I think about it the more I really like the idea of racing one of these! Check out the Thunderbikes Proposal thread.

In Thunderbikes of course!

Mind you - what do you think I have a 2nd 800 for? That is undergoing a serious weight loss program atm. I think I'm gonna have to sell my 748 and triumph to pay for all of this.

CC. The 1000 makes a better base for racing/tuning anyway from what I understand as it's substantially different internally from the 900, as is the 800.

Hrmmm ... now I'm seriously thinking about Thunderbikes for 07 .... I don't know why you keep buying 800's .. I think you have too much money! Unless of course you were keen to put me on it for a minitwins season

You could lease my spare 800 off me.

I'm holding fire on the 1000 until I see the series actually get off the ground. One thing you need to remember with these bikes is that the ECU's are not tuneable - they cannot be remapped. Also, the integrated instruments/ECU/immobiliser is a complete pain in the ass for racing. You know the story on this anyway Tony.
