18(ish)k mile service costs
Hi guys,

My 748 will be due for the 18k mile service in a few months and I need to start thinking (read: saving) for this. I am envisaging, along with the usual items, doing the belts and possibly having the cams pulled to check for rocker wear. Does anyone know what this is likely to cost?

Cheers

Hog

the previous owner of my 916 had this work done by moto rapido in hampshire, belts, rockers, full service etc etc, and the bill was £1800 with the dreaded vat.
sorry if this is bad news.

£3K ish...inc VAT

But, On top of the usual stuff, that did include a full head rebuild (all new valve seats & guides, hand lapping of seats, 16 rockers, shimming etc), SP cams & Pistons, Vernier pulleys, race cam timing, magnesium wheels, discs, new head bearings, 14+ dyno runs.

It started off so well, just a service and head refresh, then I just kept adding stuff on. Had to stop dropping into the workshop in the end....

The 12K and 24K services are normally the more expensive ones as thats when you need the belts unless of course tis a time thing and they're 2 years old (in which case wish them happy birthday but don't buy them a present, saves a bit of money)

12K service should also include fork oil whereas the 6 & 18K will not.

Nelly at Cornerspeed did my last big service and did a damn fine job, and a few extras for somewhere in the region of £500
