Fitting a fairing bracket to a monster

Is there any reason why I shouldn't drill and tap the headstock to fit an ally fairing bracket?

Also, if I was to fabricate an ally tank, is 1.5 mm thick enough?

Thanks

Steve

I made my ali tank out of 1.5mm material.

It was fine... I think!

Grey area, the drilling of frames is usually frowned on

What happens if a technical inspector decided the drilling of the headstock has weakened it and in their eyes made it unsafe to race

Accepted methods are welding or clamping of a bracket to the headstock

Thanks for that. When I was sparkying up the car factory, we were only allowed to drill the steel supports/rsj's if we tapped them and fitted a bolt. That was considered replacing the steel and not considered as weakening the support.

As its subjective, and scrutineers have the final word on race day, it's not worth chancing it.

Ally to steel? I guess that'll be a clamp then.
