Paul, you could try asking the RC's view of using a gel battery tho?
Not OE to the older models I grant you, but is used on the later bikes.

In fact, what prob would anyone have with competitors using batteries which are easily obtained that will fit these bikes?
I had also looked at the little DUCATI OE ones from other bikes too.
We have gel one on the 620 & std lump of stone in the 583.

Hi Alan,

Is there a big difference of weight between those 2 types of battery (in kilos please ).

No Tonio, not at all.

The gel batteries are a bit smaller - but they can be laid on their side (or even upside down!) if you need to put the battery elsewhere on the bike, or need more space.

Paul - just dragged out the rule book:

Rule 1.6.14 Battery: The size & type of battery must be from an OEM Ducati Fitment

That might just help you mate
