no oil pressure

Just wondered if anyone has had this problem before.....all back together and ready for the big pre MOT fire up. Engine fires great, but the oil pressure light stays on. OK, filter needs filling etc....still on. Stops engine, removes oil pressure switch, cranks with plugcaps removed. seems to be more of a vaccuum on the pressure switch hole than pressure. Engine has been dry of oil for 6 months. Am i right in thinking that i have to remove the right side engine cover/ clutch etc to reprime the oil pump? or does anyone know another reason. Has always been fine until top end stripdown, and oil is the best. Thanks, Ben.

Try a new oil pressure switch first for a fiver.

Did you remove the shrink seal cover from the new oil filter. Sounds a bit numb I know but we all do things like that.

yep, sure did, but i didnt screw in inner threaded part of strainer, just outer blank, meaning that it sealed off feed to the oil pump and caused the problem. Doh!
