New 999R -- Like it or not?

So you can see the 2005 999R on www.ducati.com. It's got a new 150bhp plant and new upper fairing and suspension components. It's homologated for the US AMA championship and is only available in America right now, but it will be coming to the UK next year. It's rumoured that they're going to remove the upper fairing vents in all of the 999 range. What do you think to the new look? Thumbs up or down?

(Personally, I liked the old version -- the front looks really weird now!)

i don't really like it either, but i suppose we'll get used to it and they have to change the design a little every couple of years,as with the 916 etc.

Yes, it's coming to the UK. It's US only right now, but the same model will be available as the 2005 999R in Europe next year. Price is expected to remain below £20k.

Hmmmm....I always thought that losing the top vents would make it look better. Maybe it does in the flesh ('cos the Casoli bike at the NEC show a couple of years back looked better without them), but in the ducati.com gallery photos the front end looks a little slabby now...I think it's the big block of unbroken red on the nose. I reckon it would be the biz with a number board to break it up a touch.

I always thought that the 999 looked far better as a race bike than in road trim.

Anyone know if Ducati (or anyone else) have published any wallpaper jpeg files of it yet? Only seem to be able to access their gallery pictures on the official site, which are a bit small to really see the bike in any detail (its not my eyes that are failing me but this monitor which is rather old (well what do you expect in West Africa!!) If anyone has any link to any decent pics of the 05 spec 999R please post 'em here!!! Preferably 1024 x 768 res.

Will be posting pics of my 999S beasty soon, complete with its new Febur nose cone, which i bought in Italy for a lot less than their UK stockist charges!! Once I get the bike over to la bella Italia (where it will now be living) I plan to give it its new nose job!!
