Sport Classic ECU advice needed

Hi,

After a long wait I have the chance to pick up some second hand Termi slip-on silencers for my 06 Sport 1000 (Sport Classic). I'm only getting the silencers and not the DP ECU or DP airbox lid with a hole in the top.

My question is, can I just fit the silencers and not worry about the ECU? I've already spoken to a reputable Ducati specialist and they reckon the DS1000 with closed loop ECU (lambda sensor on the down pipe) will cope with it OK but give it a run to see if it has any flat spots/poor fueling. I'd like to get the ECU/air filter upgraded to match at some point anyway, and properly set up but I'm keen to get the pipes on to hear the sound

Any advice or experience shared most appreciated.
