IMO.........the carbon covers are more "bling" than protection. Have you seen how well a carbon clutch cover protects the clutch drum??
If the impact is heavy enough to smash the cast engine covers, the carbon will have shattered into a 1000 pieces long before that.
It may help the abrasion damage, but again, I don't think it'll offer much protection per £.
I'd spend the cash on some crash bobbins or such like.
