I think it's the kit to convert an '03 or '04 bike to the '05 box section swingarm?

That'll be cheap then, nearly a grand for the swingarm alone

Why would you want or need to change a swingarm ?

I think the kit is around £800 or so, but I just want to check the part number before I ring a few places for prices.

Can't help with the question but I know that a couple of folks have done this.

Just curious about what it's all for? Seems a pretty expensive mod to me when there will be absolutely no performance benefit - after all, can anybody truly say their riding capabilities have outstripped the performance envelope of a pre-2005 swingarm?

So if it's just cosmetic, the question is still why? After all, a pre-2005 bike with this mod might look like a 2005 bike, after you've spent a fortune on it to make it look like one, but it will still be a pre-2005 bike and have the resale value of a pre-2005 bike.

Doesn't it make more sense to PX to a 2005 bike and put the money you'd spend on mods towards that?

not with the depreciation we are all enjoying it won't be!

Speaking from experience the swingarm is more than 800 quid, and then add the VAT, you'll need new swingarm bearings also, as they can get damaged upon removal, and they're about 60 quid, again speaking from experience.

The only benefits I see for swapping the s/arm apart from cosmetically is possibly several other exhaust options that were available to the 2004 R models and later

I'm planning on keeping the bike for a while, so I'm just weighing up options

I have to agree with the opinion that it is a waste of money, but lots of people spend large amounts of money on bikes/ upgrades they either don't need or won't benefit from (running for cover )

After the last 5-6 months you've endured TF, I think you deserve whatever make's your biking life happy.
