Well, I haven't purchased any CD's for a while now...not since I installed iTunes on my laptop. It's a bit frustrating because you can only buy music from the UK iTunes store, and despite having a UK account the site keeps flicking me back to the US store. Having said that it works quite well and you can just browse for the music you want - especially good when there's only a few tracks you like on a whole album.

This week I am mostly listening to Foo Fighters, but I've also been wallowing in nostalgia...

I was in a band called Axis in the late 70's. We used to do all original stuff, but we did have one cover song in our whole set called "In the dead of night" taken from an album called UK from a band called....UK  consisting of Allan Holdsworth, John Wetton, Eddie Jobson and Bill Bruford. My band was just begining to get a vibe going in the music press (notably from a long demised weekly called 'Musicians Only') and they raved about the way we covered this song (wish they'd raved as much about our original stuff). Consequently I've got a soft spot for the album and this song in particular - despite the fact that the music is pretentious and the lyrics are pseudo nonsensical babble.

My vinyl copy got lost in a house move somewhere along the line and I thought it had been deleted from catalogues, but good old iTunes had the whole album on line.

Get Born by Jet is totally superb and Velvet Revolver is next on my list, for new stuff.

Actually last CD's I bought are OU812 and Balance by Van Halen, just to complete the collection. Not as good as the first 6 albums with Dave Lee Roth but ok for a Sunday afternoon at Cornerspeed when you've listened to all the Roth-era stuff and have to move onto Hagar.......

Yeah but once downloaded...if it's a damn good CD surely you must feel obliged to give the band some revenue???
Surely it's worth it?

Your buying expensive CD´s maybe you should ensure them against damage and make a back up leaving the expensive original in the draw and using a back up

Scissor Sisters, self titled, - it will be the best album of 2004, - how a band can get take Comfortably Numb and get disco camp into it is pure class.

I am just plugging an "amazing" CD...You probably havent heard of him but...Raghav (self titled)

It is bringing that Asian sound to English pop and R'n B...
It really is a brilliant "crossover"...I know that Radio 1 have been playing one track called "I'm so confused". It is much better than the hip hop stylie tunes that have just been sampling bangra tracks for years...:D

Quite a surprise reading this thread: I was expecting all Katie Melua and Phil Collins!

I watched some of the Mercury Prize on TV the other week.
Thing is with the current crop of UK bands, they're such nice polite boys, with their pretty melodies; the sort I'd be happy if my daughter brought one home (if I had a daughter). Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Keane...

I liked Amy Winehouse.

And the last CD I bought?
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised - Gil Scott-Heron.
