Plugs, plug leads, coils, fuel filter all worth checking

Thanks for that posting Jon. In addition to what you said, the engine back fires occaisionally when changing down and it is occaisionally slow to pick up from idle. In fact the engine has stalled sometimes from idle. I don't appear to have any leaks around manifolds.

If i need to take it in for a service, can anyone give me a recommendation for a good service centre around Birmingham please?

Bought my bike from Speedaway Birmingham, official Duc dealers, why not call them.....;)

Sounds like the injection setup and mixture is out of tune.
Does it have cans fitted? Has it got a suitable chip in?

My 996 bp was playing up missing and spluttering at diffrent rpms turned out ot be a couple of things 1st was a faulty fuel filter 2nd a bit dearer fuel pump gauze had corroded letting bits of crap float about all sorted now though and the weathers still OK !

Thanks for your replies, the problem got worse this evening. It stalls regularly when closing the throttle quickly. Fuel seems to be the common guess.

The bikes completely standard Nelly.

I passed JHP in Coventry this afternoon in the car. They seem quite helpful. I'll give em a try.
