Hi,

As always I'm looking to you experienced Ducati Owners to share your knowlede with a mare mortal like me...

I have an early 749 bp, nothing special but its mine & I luv it...:)

I'm after some advice on how to get more out of her, so in essence I would like to ride a bit quicker.. a few of my lads have 1000cc jap bikes, they always discussing running high in the revs (close to red lining it), I've never done that, been bit of a slow coach to be fair....

what's a nice rev to be using in the low down gears 3rd etc... any tips would be greatly appreciated..

Have the suspension set up professionaly book yourself up something like Ron Haslam riding school or California superbikes days. Maybe go up two on the rear sprocket and you will out of the corner and into the next before the big bikes have got into their stride

Cool, Any pointers about where to go for a suspension set-up?

will look into riding school...

what about rpm's, whats a good number to be revving to, if I'm into going quicker what figures are we talking about 8k 9k or even higher..

The rev limiter comes in at 11k. I dropped 1 tooth on the front and went up 3 on the back. That maybe too aggressive for you so up 2 or 3 on the back is a good start. rev it to 10k no prob.

Thanks for the info sharing.. cool 10k.. will see how I get on.. when you sat aggressive, what do you mean, will it be quicker pulling off??? by doing as you said 2 or 3 up on the back, what will that do...

also, any pointers on where I could pick up a rear sprocket??

Yes got a price of £34 for a rear one from my local dealer dealer today.

Is that a good price.. they wasn't able to provide a lower tooth front, they mentioned 749 as standard @ 14 tooth, so I guess my best option id to go 2 up on rear (41)

900MAN (or anyone else)

Ive just found this link for going 1 down on the front..

http://www.designcorse.co.uk/Ducati_749_999_Chain_and_Sprockets/Ducati_749_999_Talon_Front_Sprocket

Will that give me the same outcome as going 2 up on the back...

But the renthal rear looks nicer.
Ps think you need 98 to go 41, may be worth going for a nice gold chain at the same time and maybe a fresh front

The talk is going 2 up will still be ok with 96 link anything more then its a new chain.. rear sprocket it is then..

Peak Torque is supposed to be 8.5k revs and peak power at 10k, so I would guess never letting the revs drop below 5k and trying to stay between 6k and 10k revs
