Dreaded gearbox issues on my 1098. Strange clunking noises and no drive in 4th. Lower gears are OK but haven't gone anything above 4th.

I suppose i'm looking for a 1098 or 1198 (stronger?) gearbox if anyones got a good 2nd hand one for sale?

Just (as in 2 TD's) started using a qs and told it's possibly caused by that.

My bets is that a gear selctor fork has been bent and damaged. Lets hope that the gear cluster is ok. It does sound like a QS caused issue. Are ytou using a HM QS by any chance? And the the geabox you want is a RS one.........

I have stayed away from fitting a QS to my 1098 after hearing how they cause so many problems with gear box :( hope you get sorted out.

I'm hoping its only a bent gear selector, but thought I might look for a box just in case. Using a translogic Qs and can't believe its managed to cause this in just 2 TD's but won't be using it again.
I'd been told to buy a nova box but really just want this back up and running ASAP and at a reasonable price.
