A friend of mine is co-ordinating a collection across several newsgroups and websites to pool money to purchase charity aid through the Oxfam Unwrapped (http://www.oxfamunwrapped.com/) website.
The idea is to get people to donate a little spare cash (or forego a small present this Christmas) and donate it to charity instead.
The idea of pooling the money means that a larger "purchase" can be made than by sending individual donations.
Alex started this off as an idea to raise a few quid - £100 would have been great.
To date he has raised nearly £1800 and has just "purchased" a "Build A Class Room" package to help get the kids on their way to an education and out of poverty.
Please feel free to donate a little or a lot as you feel necessary.
