All.

Just thought i would add a festive post saying 'Hi' to everyone on here.

After Bike Magazine did the secondhand special on the 748 i had the urge to get 'my dream bike'. The big-up to this site was a massive reassurance. I've had a few performance cars in the last few years from Caterhams to Subarus, and nothing has quite hit 'the spot' (we all know what the spot is....surely?)

One thing that cult performance cars have in droves is the camaraderie of fellow drivers and the massive following and brotherhood of the internet forum - so to find such a forum for my newly intended was very much good news.

I've been following this site for the last few months, whilst dreaming about knee-down moments, and i'd just like to say that the bunch of contributors on this site appear (never actually met any of them so i'll have to go on first impressions) to be one of the friendliest and most helpful bunch of people in the world.

So, basically i'm blaming all of you for encouraging me in to buying a '97 Red 916 with carbon mono seat, ohlins rear shock, race number boards front and rear, 4614 miles from new, 5-spoke marchenisis, and me wearing the biggest smile for years (until the other-half finds out - 5 days and counting - seriously she doesn't yet know).

Bought it in the depths of winter, riding it home in rain at 4 degrees centigrade - couldn't feel the cold - does ownership always do this?

Hopefully see you all around in the coming years.

From a soon-to-be-eunuch (when she finds out) - but it'll all be worth it

but still having a Ducati is worth all the pain as I'm sure she'll come round:D

Know how you feel - rode my 916 100 miles home in the pouring rain (big grin under the lid and clenched buttocks everytime I went blind into the spray from a truck!!) and haven't told the wife about the 996S motor i've got sitting in the garage waiting to go in..............:o

It doesn't help the secrecy when the HPI and insurance envelopes fall on the doorstep on the same day, with me being forced to open them with 'my beloved' standing over me quizzing me as to why they arrived????

Webcore - nearly lost mine within 500m after purchase - i'm not used to the torque (for that read wheel-spin) after a life on in-line four Jap bikes.
Fishtailed down the road at 30 mph - i'm only just getting the adrenalin out of the system now........

If i'm in the chair........what'll it be?

Welcome to the club, hooley. Yet another bloke who's scared of his Mrs! Where do these scarey women learn their tactics, is what I'd like to know! :saint:

There's a 'last ride of 2004' thread you should also check out if you want to meet a few peeps. If your mrs isn't talking to you anyway, you might as well come for a rideout, right. :D

And I'll have a Kier Royal please (tummy a bit tender after a nasty bug so won't go for the whole bottle of Champers this time.) :sing:

'SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED' - otherwise known as 'my beloved' still hasn't been discovered yet, by the missus.

Don't know what she will do when she finds out i'm having an affair with an italian redhead - so at the moment she IS talking to me.

Not that my better half is callous or anything, but in the past i've been allowed to talk about getting another bike ONLY if the subject of marriage - still struggling with the dictionary definition of that one or at the very least putting her name as my benefactor on a will - a very cheery thought - is forthcoming.

Does anybody else think this is irrational behaviour or is it a typical reaction (jealousy) to a challenger for my affection?

Any more for this round - i may need a tray.........

Welcome aboard Jas,

Which part of Herts are you from - I'm over to the West in Tring.

Give me a shout when the weather's a bit better (and the SPS is back in one piece after it's winter 'tweaking') and we'll have to meet up for a beer and a bit of a blast - but not NECESSARILY in that order!

Hi Jaz ... vodka and red bull please. I've done what you are doing a few time I'm afraid, even to the point of relacing one 998 with a Final Editon without Mrs H noticing :rolleye:

I think the new Triumph motorcycles advert sums up how many women feel when they show this fed up looking lady saying: 'If it was another woman at least I feel I could compete' ;)
