View Full Version : Onboard Videos of race circuits ???

Just something I've thought of occasionally - could be of use to the DesmoDue guys as well maybe.
On-board bike videos of all the tracks they will be using AND taking this one step further ALL the tracks in the UK !!!
I thought of this as a follow-on after the MCN circuit guides (never read one, mind) but you get the idea of someone (hopefully) riding roughtly the right lines with a camera on board.
I know many circuits have been covered in this way on the TV via BSB but, it always struck me that the astronomical speeds the pro's were riding at would not be of that much use to the 'average' punter.
Please excuse me if this idea is b*ll*cks

I think its a perfectly sound idea, but most of yours are (not like mine then, eh??????)
Anyone got a slowmo of Jerez I could borrow, say about 1/10th Moto GP speed, which will suit my wobbling style when I get there ?
mort, in a "getting ready for Jerez mood", shame the bike aint ready yet tho'

Cheers Marra - and dont worry Paul, the ideas you have applied to BloooDuke are much more sound than mine !!!

I have the "Superbike" Magazine video they issued a couple of years back with all the BSB tracks on it with an onboard/commentary lap.
Could copy it for folks if they're in need etc.
Gc
I've got the same vid Guy. With only one lap per circuit and each lasp lasting around 1.30 ish. You are forever rewinding and playing back. Ideal situation would be for 5-6 medium paced laps.
Surely with all the digital wizards on here, someone could transfer it to the PC and cut out each lap into seperate video clips. That way you can simply play it in loop mode. I wouldn't mind having that, either. Anyone offering?

Oh !
And I enjoyed the vid too !
Like many of us I have a selection of BSB tapes, with on-board camera shots. Unfortunately, when I went to race at tracks that I had a video of, it was no help !
The best things to start you off well are
1) cones on corners when starting out, especially if its a long track, as you forget exactly where you are while swearing at yourself when you get it wrong ! The cones give you something consistent to aim for
2) following someone you TRUST
3) both of the above ;)
