Hello
I work mate has just informed me he has picked up a RGV250,
Only thing is the calipers are locked on the front disks.
He was advised to soak the calipers in petrol.
I guess this is ok he is not worried about the pads.
any ideas.

No none. :D
I wouldn't use the petrol. It's more than likely the pads have corroded to the discs, rather than seized solid.
Take the caliper mounting bolts out, turn the wheel complete with calipers a little so they are clear of the fork mounts and tap them with a rubber mallet. Even twist them about the disc to push the pistons back a little.
Once the corrosion between the pads and discs has been broken, they should come off and then they're be able to be cleaned up and serviced.
You could also try removing the pad pins and with the mounting bolts out of the way, the calipers may be able to be removed leaving the pads stuck to the discs. Tap these off and clean the discs up.

:) Nelly you are the man.
I guess the usual warning about Asbestos needs to be added just in case - should be ok but you never know!
