Can anyone help?

I have a Nokia 6310i phone for work and a car kit with it (connected through speakers etc). I don't pay for this as its a work phone.

The 6310 is no longer being issued and i am not keen on the new phones we can get and by all accounts they are not very good. Also the car kit is not great.

I would like to stick with Nokia and would be happy to get a new phone myself and use work sim card but I am loathe to pay the fees for the car kit to be changed completely. I have been told that they cannot just replace the craddle with a new one to fit new phone.

Is this correct?

If I get a new phone can anyone suggest options for replacing car kit that is cheap.

btw, I dont want a bluetooth headset thingy, it has to be a proper car kit.

ta muchly

I also have the 6310i car kit installed, but if you get a car kit adapter (CARK95) from O2 or wherever, you upgrade it so it can take a Nokia 6100, which is what I've done.

Ade.

I'vre just gone from the 6310i to the 6230.
I bought a cradle convertor from ebay for £60 which does the same thing for the cark91 kit in both our cars.
20 minutes max to swap over.

ok, will have to have a look and see what the 6230 is like and try and find the right cradle...

If i go for a complete change any ideas on cost for a new car kit? Work will only pay if its one of theirs which i dont like!

Lily - this is the convertor from the same guy I dealt with - good seller.
There is a list of compatible phones that you can choose from so you aren't restricted to one model.

One plug and one aerial connector.
That's it.
It even mounts to the original Nokia bracket holding the cradle onto the dash.

Lily, if you are with O2, and a business user, they can be persuaded to give you the car kit adaptor for free which is what I got with my new 6230 - which is a crap phone! IMHO. Buttons too small and close together for a serial texter like me.....

Maybe we should all bombard Nokia to tell them what t***s they are for discountinuing their most succesful phone ever.....(A development engineer from Nokia told me that!)

Yeti

Work use Orange and we have our own helpdesk etc for it as I guess we have a fair few users. Everything has to be arranged through them and they have agreed phones etc which are now some really nasty ones that just don't fancy.

How about handsfree through this car stereo unit (bluetooth).

Dont really want to change the stereo as well as its a pretty new car and the car kit sis all connected through stereo anyway.
