View Full Version : Sprayed metal preserver on my brakediscs. should i have?

Before i put my Duke in the bike bubble i sprayed some metal preserver which i got with the bubble on all the metal parts "Carcoon C.S.P Fluid"
Says on the can that its ok to spray on brake disc's, as they were looking a bit rusty i did, have i screwed them up ?

I would think that it is oil based and can be cleaned off come the spring.
But to bve honest I have never heard of C.S.P. fluid. Most peeps use wd40

Just spray the disk's with some brake cleaner or contact cleaner(same stuff) before you ride it. Make sure you don't use the brakes first though or you will have to clean the pads off as well.

Most decent motorpart stores should stock it, or your friendly local bike shop-failing that try Halfords.

:frog: Get a grown up to phone DucatiGlasgow for brake cleaner for you ...Oh and in case you are still unsure DO NOT put anything on the surfaces of your discs in future....Doh!!!!

lol i wasnt thinking when i did it, read the bottle and it said it was ok, then when i thought about it and the chance it could be oil based i gave myself a slap. :D

weeian, it not uncommon for most peeps to put wd40 on any shiny bit that likely to rust during wintere storage.
