You lot would spot something wrong at 100 paces, so I want you to cast your eyes over the pics to see if you can see anything amiss!

It's apparently a 1995 916SP and it looks about right to me. I did notice the front wheel had the step in the spokes, but that might be correct anyway.

This has been offered to a mate so he is getting the frame and engine numbers to be sure, but it's in Parts Foreign and he's in Further Parts Foreign so unless it checks out and is Cheap Enough it'll be a case of walking away.

What say you?

Picture of a 916 SP. Gold 3 spokes, are the standard for an early bike. I don't know how much carbon apart from the front mudguard there should be.

The second one is more realistic as an original.

Wouldn't a '95 have a gold frame on 3 spoke brembos

Looks like a magnesium Marchesini rear and a 5 spoke aluminium Brembo on the front.

All the 916SP (1, 2 and 3) should have the 'champagne*' (gold) coloured frame and the three-spoke wheels.

There are questions as to whether all the bikes went out with the lightweight magnesium alloy three-spoke wheels (these seem to be very rare)

It shouldn't have colour matched mirrors (all the pre-TPG bikes came with black mirrors)

I'll need to dig out the books, but I was pretty sure that there were spec'd with carbon front mud guard and carbon airbox as well(?) but I might be getting that confused with the later SPS models...

*The same colur as the paddock stand in the picture

I would second all of those comments
Gold Frame, Gold 3-Spokes as standard

Even I know gold frame and wheels. Forks look early showa, did the SP have sandcast cases ala later SPS?

Thanks for the comments guys - I was wary of the colour of the frame too as I believe the grey wasn't introduced until much later.

As it turns out, the guy wants €8,000 for it so my mate is going to pass on it anyway.
