just bought an ST for my upcoming italian trip ..

was building a monster for the job but wasn't going to get it finished in time.

well happy with the bike .. full luggage .. fuel guage .. makes me feel like a grown up

took it for a test run around scotland last week .. bike was flawless but for one thing ...

jeez that seat is uncomfy !!!!!!!! WTF .. this is supposed to be a touring bike !!!

Anyone know any ways of making it more bareable? other than lashing 300 dabs on a gel seat?

Inflatable cushion with gaffa tape was the only way I could get mine back from Italy!:D but later found a pair of padded cycling shorts made a difference.

Which version is it ?

The later style seats (ST3)are great for rider but still rubbish for the pillion. If you don't have this version try to get one and if its one of these you are still unhappy with there's no hope.

defo cycling shorts, was hunting for Confort seat but there like rocking horse poop, but had a pair of specialized cycle shorts and provided all day long comfort where before 1 1/2 hours and corners of seat cutting off circulation

I got hold of a spare seat for not a lot of money and then had it re shaped and covered by a guy in Harrogate who's name escapes me at the moment.Google him, old boy well respected.
£100 for the whole re shaping !
wider and 1 inch thicker for rider to spread the load more.
Wider , thicker and the seating angle tipped forward for the wife.A huge improvement, apparently, for the pillion.
Much better than the american offerings which sell for a lot of money and are not good at all.
