1098 clocks off Ebay, implications?

Need a new Clock for my 1098 as it’s not working. I had heard that they need to be coded or coupled or something to the ECU (& key?). Is there anyone on this site able to do this or is it a dealer job?

Check your PM.

With the newer bikes the immo sits within the clocks and not the ECU.
