If I have to go to London its usually for work so they pick up the tab and PA sorts it all out.

This time I have an interview in London and need to get down for 11am so I thought I would check out flight prices as driving into central London doesn't seem like much fun from here!

Flight prices are around 180 plus the heathrow express and tube costs so call it 200.

So I thought I would have a look at the Great British Rail network..... For me to get the train down the cheapest return is £184!! and thats the 'economy' seat!! :o

Any other suggestions as its me that's paying this time?

Rant over ... and relax.....

so much for public transport!!

drive down the night before, stop at a travel lodge within easy tube distance of the interview but outside the congestion charging zone and drive home after ....

or drive as far in on the morning as you can .. say Hemel Hempstead .. then train into Central London ....

Swim....

Jump in the Mersey, and just head south, you can have a nice look at the Welsh shoreline, then cornwall - devon, poole, dover, then up the thames :D

problem is by the time i have paid fuel and travel lodge and food its not far off flying which would keep it to one day.

might have to have a word about expenses...

In his best Divine Comedy voice - Take the National Express - if your life's in a mess....

Yeah I know it's like the Ark Lily, but that's why it's cheap......

if it didn't mean setting of at about 4 in the morning and me probably pukig all the way there i might consider it but i dont reckon looking like death and smellin gof sick will help with the interview...

train still looks the cheapest, and even in the "economy" seat i've never found it bad, or too uncomfortable...
But then i might be a touch biased :rolleye:
