Al was lucky he dismantled the desmo bike engine (as a precaution) & found 2 that ought to be replaced before racing it:o
better 'spensive now, than more costly later eh?

......closers are a bit more too, and since when have you paid any extra labour for fitting 'em :P anyway ...... no rockers eh........ collection date is a bit close to April 1st for me to believe that........ :(:sing:
always pleased to help :bouncy:
About £100 a piece inc. vat. Nelly posted a guide price a while back.

Luckily I'd bought a set of heads from a v. low mileage bike and had that stripped instead (£200 for the heads & barrels + 1hrs labour), or my bill would've been almost double :(

If someone can get me the part numbers I might be able to get them slightly cheaper.... not promising anything, but I know a man who claims he can

I could be interested in some cheaper rockers depending on what Alfs find when my bike goes in for it's 18000ml service.
And sorry to hijack the thread a bit Dibble but does this occur on the 2 valve motors or is it just the 8 valvers that suffer ???
I'd be interested to know what Alf's find on your next service, as mine will be due for valve clearances soon, if the weather cheers up and i get out on it, that is.
'only done 5200 at he moment though:D
Fingers crossed.

Nigel,
Honest answer is "I dont know", but I reckon one of the other guys will ..
Good to see you on the boards though, hope you are well mate.
Look on the bright side folks,
I haven't seen/touched/heard my baby since May 13th last year. No telling what the bill will be when/if I get it back.
:sniff::sniff::sniff::sniff::sniff::sniff:
Dropped an email over with part numbers as soon as I hear anything I'll post it up
The 2V rockers are far more robust. As with everything they will wear out eventually, but nothing like as quick as the 4V.
Oil feed is better and the chroming seems to be of better quality.
Main problem with 2V rockers, that causes them to wear abnormally is valve clearances. Spec's are tight and if they are done too tight the rocker gets a hammering.

No rockers in mine either.
Mind you since we went to Motul valve clearance adjustment and rocker replacement has fallen noticeably.

Hello Boys and Girls,
not been on the forum for a long while - bike has been in storage since last May due to major renovations on the house....
Alf's in Worthing has my SP3 right now....just replaced three rockers that was about £210 plus vat plus labour - plus major service, belts, new battery, 10 hrs labour....sitting down?.....900 quid.
Hopefully going over to Alf's this weekend to pick it up - Nigel, how u doing? Alf has an open day this Saturday..maybe see u there!
Gary-g, a fellow Shoreham resident...nice one.
Hopefully get my arse out on the bike some day.....
