Newbie - eligibility

hello all,
After a few years racing a 2 stroke which was both rewarding and incredibly frustrating, demorilising, wallet draining etc, I fancy racing something cheap and cheerful just for fun, and the DD series looks great.
Question is can I do the series in classes A or B with a national licence? BTW I'm no hotshot either:D

Thanks. So, as funds are tight I was thinking of buying a Class B bike, running in class A and gradually morphing it into a class A bike as finances allow. Is this possible?
