You thought the Desmodue guys had worries with some people having more competitive bikes than others, but have you seen this from ducati.com on their desmo challenge race series.

Here's the overview of the Open 2 Valve rules and the entrants.

So there you are sitting on the startline on your 900SS and someone rocks up on an NCR

OPEN 2 VALVE
This category is for all Ducati models of any year using the 2 valve engine. As an open category, the regulations also permit the use of specials by allowing any chassis or modifications non-standard from the original model providing that is powered by a Ducati 2 valve engine. Despite the relative freedom of restrictions, motorcycles are subject to the general regulations set out for open classes by the FIM. There is also a sub-division of this category for "Naked" bikes.

Gianpaolo Pertile 992R
Devis Visani 900
Francesco Castellani 900
Alessandro Calvaresi 900ss-01
Claudio Quintarelli 980
Paolo Bentivogli NCR
Enrico Martini NCR
Francesco Greggio Bimota
Rino Sebastiani 996 2v-00
Danny Garbin 900ss-01
Giuseppe Bitonti M1000
