Just pondering what people rate as the best modification they have made to their bikes, albeit performance or cosmetic.
I think mine has to be loosing indicators and mirrors , it makes the bike look leaner and more focused.

Well what are your favorites????

Íve made a few, slipper clutch (JHP) Brembo brake/clutch master cylinders, PFM brake set up. All very nice. Favourite one, PFM brakes.

powercommander, sorted out all fuelling problems and the bike is an absolute joy to ride.

Couldnt`believe the difference after several different chips and having the co set up, still leaving small glitches it was a stark contrast.

Termi's to get that real Duc feeling for me :D:D:D

Of all the mods. and I've done loads, (with plenty more in the pipe-line!) it has to be the 50mm titanium Termi's. - The best bit was having had the bike serviced at John Hackett's, when they fired it up I expected the mechanic to say "you should hear what they sound like with a full 58mm system", instead he shook his head and said "f*** that's loud!" I don't know if it's because they're really tightly packed, or the titanium sleeves but the sound is quite vicious, still has to be the number 1 mod.!

In order of smiles / pound on my little 748...

Magnesium wheel :) :)
Slipper Clutch
Suspension (Fork rebuild / springs / revalve, Ohlins rear Matris Steering Damper)
SPS Conversion (Heads, pistons, cams, cam timing, Dyno setup etc)

The next mod's I make will most likely be to my riding by re-visiting CSS etc.

In order,

I would say that the 748 to 853 conversion.

The next one would have to be the front brakes being uprated to Brembo P4 monoblocks with a radial master cylinder.

Finally, having the forks revalved and rear shock replaced by ohlins. took some time setting up with much head scratching but im getting there and well worth it.

Best and most practical mod = AP brakes and radial master cylinder.
best aesthetic mod = 50mm Ti Termis, carbon fibre and titanium fasteners. oh oooh and the magnesium bits which allow you to drink more beer and put on weight but keep overrall loaded weight the same.....

hmmmm

most impressed with the master cyl
rearsets make a big difference to riding
cant wait to get my oversize clutch slave back on as that makes life so much better.

but i reckon the two next things on the list will probably make the most difference to performance for me :

slipper
mag wheels

Termis for the sound, full carbon bellypan and lower fairing for the pose factor - for value, sorting out the blxxdy flip up stand - spending £5 to save yourself dropping it has got to be a bargain !

dickieducati
31-Mar-2005, 18:11
purely for the pose/sound - vented clutch cover.

performance - very tough choice between slipper/and being set up correctly with pc111.

termi's dont count as its not a proper ducati without them. imho.

Dickie, you're a star ! ("not a proper Ducati without Termi's")

I said the same on a thread a couple of weeks ago and got slated for being "elitist" !

888

SP5 Single seat unit for bling and brembo radial brake master cylinder/billet brembo calipers and cast iron full floaters for ..erm..brakes that actually work on a 888 !

And Magnesium wheels..!

S4R

DP shortened carbon tail and DP/JHP clutch pressure plate/open clutch cover for bling

Cat removal downpipes and 14t front sprocket for 'function'..:D

Cheers
Nat

Easy. Sold the 916SP to buy a race bike! Sure put an end to any further modifications needed.:D

On a 996BP:

1. best value for money, one tooth smaller gearbox sprocket

2. money no object, 50mm Termis, plus Grunter conversion by Sigma, plus rear Ohlins, plus geometry / suspension set-up also by Sigma

Carbon749
31-Mar-2005, 22:47
749s :

Throwing the standard can and back light as far a way as possible and replacing with a home made WSB style can.

Open clutch cover for the "rattle"

Adding the frame rail like the WSB bikes and painting the frame red.

Swapping the tank, all the bodywork, guards etc for Carbon fibre race based items.

Losing the indicators and replacing mirrors with tiny ones. :)

Wish list would be Radial brakes and under slung rear caliper.

Are Power Commanders really that good?

My bike has Termi's and the chip but still likes to cut out when stopping. Been told that that's how they are...

Just done it....

Took the top off my airbox and took a 22mm drill bit to it. A few strategically placed airholes later and my ST2 is now producing 140 bhp at the rear wheel and wheelying off the throttle in fourth gear.

Well, I lied about that bit, but...

It definitely makes the bike more responsive, it pulls higher rpm in top than I've seen before  and it makes a luvverly noise.

Not bad for 15 mins work and it cost nuffink

If I go into the garage there are two bikes, a 998 and a CBR6. Much to my annoyance the CBR cannot be relied upon to start if left for more than a day

Best mod was getting the suspension setup.

Favourite mod is a tough one - Corse Slipper/Speedymoto clutch cover combo perhaps.
