Centre Clutch Nut

Just about to attack my clutch and replace the Spider spring, Just 2 quick questons, Is the big nut in the centre left or right hand thread and what do i Torque it back up to?

If it's still the same slipper Paul it's an Feracci clutch.

Basically it's a normal thread - anti-clockwise to undo, they'll be some loctite on the thread also, plus it's torqued up to about 170lbs!!! so get some spinach down you!

You will need a clutch holding tool as well.

Trust I know, lost my knuckle skin when it slipped off the nut too.

Might be worth grinding the chamfer off of the socket you are using ala the rear wheel nut socket to get as much of a grip as poss because the nut is very shallow.

Jezzzz your not wrong there its on tighter than my Ass in a Gay bar.
I do suppose the Clutch holding tool would make life easier. But taking it to the bike shop round the corner would be easier still.
I just hate to be beaten by a bolt :(

I agree with Old Yella as socket jumping off at high torque caused me much swearing. Cluth holding tool available from:

just weld a bar to some old clutch plates. theres your tool.:D
