View Full Version : Minichamps Models
No bike this weekend so got dragged off shopping. Despite protesting that a beer garden would be the place of choice.
Anyway pop down to your local Model Zone store (MZ) and they have some Minichamps models at half price or less.
Managed to get a brand new in a box Bostrom 998R 1:6 in WSB 2002 livery that was £70 for less than half.
Nice looking model the Bostrom 998. Got one of those myself.:)

To make sure the paint job is authentic on the 2004 Rizla look out for www.mortgages.tv either side of the screen. That's one of our customers who sponsored them last year, which got us into a couple of races in the Cresecent Suzuki hopsitality. Nice way to be introduced to BSB, first time I'd ever been to a race. Went to Silverstone and then the end of season at Donnington.
Has anyone got any of the ONYX 1:24 scale bikes?
Ive got a few of these including,
3 Differant Foggy bikes,
Chili and Corser Team Virgino Ferarri
Corser test bike (black)
Doriano Romboni world and Italian SBK
A Gobert AMA SBK
James Haydon Gia Ca Moto 996
Andi Meklau RedBull 996
Some of them have riders aboard, others have replica helmets on the tank.I cant remember the full list as they are still packed somewhere after moving house.
Also got a few of the IXO bikes,Hodgy,Bayliss,Foggy,Chili,.etc,etc:yawn::yaw n::yawn:;)
Am I right in saying the Minichamps are the top models to collect?
Just getting into collecting these, how do i find out what is the right/fair price to pay for some of the rare ones. What are the rare ones in case I come across one in a shop some where?

Good value for money & good detailing on the models!
I can only advise you on the rare Ducati 996/998 range!!
Very rare - Bostrom 00
Bayliss 00
Corser 99
Quite rare- Foggy 00
Hodgson 00
Reynolds 00 WSB wildcard (number 47)
I do know that the Katoh moviestar RCV is also very rare!!
Is the scale 1:6 the sets to go for then? Or the 1:12?
I have been going for the 1:12 type, was tempted to get a 1:6 Bayliss imola but thought it would look out of place so didnt get it.
minichamps are the 1's to collect and 1:12 is the scale to go for, the 1:6 scale doesnt seem as finely detailed for my liking, more remote control looking than a model
the hislop 02 title bike is rare as heck as they pulled it form production after his death, fetching £200+ on ebay, same story with kato
the older models are the 1's to collect thats why i have all 3 2000 models, didnt want the roberts 1 but it completes the set that could now be worth upto £500, the same reason i want the reynolds gsxr as that keeps my run of bsb champs going, similair story with the rossi set
the foggy 00 model isnt that rare as it was re-released for wdw so theres loads of those around
i use a company called trax models, get a monthly release sheet in the post and will hold your special orders, im still waiting for a couple but i trust them to send it me when theyre out, no payment and none of the crap i had dealing with grand prix legends
happy hunting guys, use your judgement on value and future demand before you pay silly money for say example a rutter rep, if you see the hislop grab it

I got my Hislop rep for £70 on eBay. I must have struck lucky as every other one seems to go for well over £100. £200 is a bit optimistic...
ive seen the hislop 1 clear 200 notes before
there was a 2000 rossi rep going for over 250 the other day
its just the luck of the ebay draw im afraid
its very addictive collecting these minichamps, finding myself on the net every night looking for the rare ones. Just bought the Rossi test bike in black, very nice bike. i can see my collection growing very fast.
just bought a Hislop for £79.00 and have just been called mad by my wife.
Hummm, she just does'nt understand.
Luck she didnt know me when I would blow £1500 on one book:smug:
£1500 on a book, what book was that ?????????
use your common sense when buying
the older the model the rarer they are, minichamps werent so popular in 2000/2001 and they didnt produce nowhere nera the range they do now
deej, when I was into Falconry, i used to spend crazy money on rare books, dating back to 1841. Sold a few and kept a few. I would buy them and put them straight into the book case, just a quick glance inside. Most of them I got from the states. those were the days:bouncy:
now its just ducati ducati ducati and what a great choice you made
i love my bikes, my whole life has been bikes and now ive got my ducati im over the moon
the minichamps look awesome in my cabinet, main light off and just the small light on inside it and the rear of the bikes reflecting back :frog:

I watched two Corser 99's go through for £490 & £510 the other day!! I'm trying to collect all the Ducati race bikes(getting there slowly),but that is mad money!!
Adam's quite right too, collecting these things can become an obsession!!

I've just done a little deal with a model shop who was clearing a few slow sellers!
Reynolds 2001
Russo 2003
Foti 2003
Merkva 2003
£85 the lot!! There are good deals out there, but the rare ones still fetch strong money, looks like i'll have to bite the bullet to complete the collection!!
Hope the missus doesn't find out!!:P
I was going to make this my winter project, collecting them, but once I got the Steve Martin one that was it. They do look good, trouble is I have them in my wifes plate cabinet so i will have to find somewhere else for them. I have noticed some collectors just collect the rare ones and winners of championships, but i would like to get them all, one day.
you'll never get them all nowadays unless you win the lottery, theres probably well over 150 different minichamps bike models
ive jusy had my latest flyer through from trax with another 30+ new releases from the 2003/2004 season which also included the desmosedici capirossi race winner as it finished still covered in the grime, that 1's already been pre ordered by me
ive decided to stick to the rossi and sheene collection, bsb winners, wsb bikes i like and the motogp winners which at the moment coincide with the rossi lot
How much was the capirossi race winner? is it out now?
£39.99 and its not out yet, contact trax-models.co.uk and see if its on their site, they send me a flyer with all the latest models on but dont say when its released until they actually get them in stock, unlike gpl who advertised the hailwood 2months before it arrived in the uk

Just bought a few today with my yearly bonus so I now have:
BSB
2001 Reynolds
2002 Rutter, Byrne, Hislop
2003 Byrne
Just need a 2000 Hodgson to complete the BSB set! I might try and pick up the 2000 Reynolds WSB wild card too as it's sort of BSB related...
I'll also be getting the Kagayama and Reynolds bikes later in the year when they're released (December) plus the Toseland Fila 999 that's due out next month.
yeah
i got the reynolds on back order, might add kagayama now i have his lid
good luck in finding the hodgson rep and the wild card
I now have all my Rossi collection, just need to wait for the Valencia bike and the 125-250 to be released. Very happy. The post man will be busy round my way.:bouncy:
good boy, im waiting for the 05 jerez m1 with bent brake lever :sing::sing:

You could always sell a kidney & buy the signed one off eBay at a very reasonable £225 with just 7 days to go :o :o
