Right, tried taking the seat unit off again and these Ducati s**t allen key bolts that hold the actual seat have burred off!!

Tried using hex allen keys,standard,wd40 & pliers. Cant gring it off because its recessed.

Any ideas...it's driving me bloody mad now,why cant they just use quality steel rather than this toffee aluminium s**t!

Typically, its the last one to come off too.

drill through the head of the bolt with a drill the same size as the thread of the bolt, just dont put too much pressure on so that you can stop as soon as the head is loose.

fingers crossed

and there was me feeling guilty for the picture :D

i reckon they should change the ducati tool kit to contain a drill and zip ties, not much need for anything esle imho

Drill em steady with a good drill.
When the head pops off there should be enoguh thread to grasp with some pliers/grippers to unscrew and the heat and vibration from the drilling will have loosened them a bit too.

Cheers guys!

thought that was necessary but you never know unless you ask.
Royally miffs you off that for the money you spend on these lovely machines, that the componenets cant match the same quality!
never mind...time to drill:D:D

you wanna try it if you do it to one of the sheer bolts holding the mirrors on! not the easiest place to get a drill in :(

Heh, I had exactly the same problem with those rounding out.

So I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that because they were sheer bolts, if I gave the mirror a gentle tap it should break the bolt and I can pull the mirror off.

So I did.

I ended up with a broken fairing stay instead.

Bolt was fine though.

Before you get the drill out, try knocking a torx bit in to the rounded out hex recess. Works 8/10 time for me even on bigger REALLY tight bolts. I don't drill many................

Ah my favourite - the chisel method! Saved many a potential driller on the 600 that did.

Rev - we have met at the Rocky Track Attack last year when I extracted money out of everyone for the prize draw. You should try to make it to the pubnights as we get a good crowd. See the DSC Essex website (http://www.ducatiessex.com/) for details.
