I am looking to get myself a new helmet and gloves and I'm trying to find a decent price on them.

Helmet - Suomy Spec 1R Extreme

Gloves - A'Star GP Pro/Plus/Tech

Best I've found so far is Helmet - £349, Gloves (Pro) £99

Does anyone have a special deal going on somewhere where I could possibly get them cheaper?

Cheers,

TP, tight ar$e

Try J&S sports, git my Arai at over £100 of list price a year ago.

Not yet, that's the Spec 1R Extreme Bayliss

The guy I was going to get it from won't discount it from £399 and I've found it for £349 on the internerd.

Was looking for new Astar gloves but the little fingers were uncomfortable on all of them (which is weird cos the ones I have now fit like a.........glove....)

In the end I felt a bit spendy and went for these. A bit shell-suity but they match the leathers as well as feeling incredible.

If there is a City lunch next week then I'll bring them along.

The only problem with that is that I'd like to get them before then.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll definitely be on the lookout there for some bargains :D

Here is a pic of the helmet.

Not sure why I want this one in particular ....

Certainly a nice looking helmet, Tony. I was the same way wanting a top badged helmet. After wrecking a couple in racing, I couldn't bring myself to spend yet another £300-400 each time and switched to Nitro. It's a Shoei copy, well very close anyway, and you can get them for about £70. It's actually a very good helmet. But hey, I hear these DD racers don't spare any expense.;)

Fair point Felix.

I've wanted one of these since I saw Troy wearing it last year so absolutely nothing is going to stop me from buying one.

It's been in the back of my mind though, if I trash it. I daresay you'll see a few of us doing exactly the same as you and going down that path once we've trashed one or two. I may keep it as my spare helmet/road use and run the one you see in my avatar.

But I will have one, oh yes it will be mine :D

I've been looking on www.thevisorshop.com

I've got the yellow one on this page: http://thevisorshop.com/acatalog/Main_Menu_NITRO_N500_V_GRAPHIC_HELMETS_426.html

Only £60!

I looked at all of the Nitro ones and the N500-V fit me the best. I found no good reason to go for the higher priced one, BTW. Just more convoluted vents. Value for money goes down, IMO, as they go up in price. Visors are only £20, which is what a visor should cost. I mean how does it cost them press a piece of plastic??

Hasn't the spec 1R extreme been replaced this year by the Toseland? Hence try someone like Infinity as they always flog last years stuff off cheaper and will normally do a deal on the sticker prices.

No, the Spec 1R Extreme is a new range only just been released. Last year was the Spec 1R. All the top Suomy reps were Spec 1R's last year and this year they are the Extreme's.

I went to order the Bayliss Extreme helmet in Feb and it wasn't released yet. And they wanted full price (£399) just to order it in! That was my local Infinity store in Twickenham. I've since found them for £349 which is £50 better off in my beer fund.

Having said that, Felix makes a lot of sense and I'm now struggling with my conscience ....

Tony, buy the fancy lid as you clearly want it. Then pay the £60 for the Nitro and race with it. Think of it as getting a whole spare helmet instead of a spare visor for the Suomy.

Good plan, except I've already got the Nakano as well ... and it's perfectly good!

Maybe the Bayliss will have to wait :(

I have to go, before you see a grown man cry .....

TP have you tried the Suomy on?

Ducati Uk sent me through before xmas both the new Arai and Suomy to try, loved the look of the Suomy but it just wouldn't fit the shape of my head.
Because of delays with the Arai I ended up with a new XR1000 but did get over a £100 off at Ally Pally.

For the Suomy try HJC in Ruislip, looks nothing from the outside but at any show they have one of if not the biggest helmet stands. They are the same company as Daytona.

Yeah I have, down at my local Infinity. Fits me better than my Arai!

Buy two Suomys, get Bayliss to sign them both, then flog one on ebay.

Money back for both but you get to keep one.

:D
