748s. Did this replace the 748SPS?

Hi all,

According to my Haynes manual, the 748s was the replacement for the 748SPS. I have a 2001 model 748s and am not 100% convinced this is a replacement model (yes it does have nitride forks, marchesinis).

I am only asking because I am curious to know the stock BHP figures for one. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Mine's a late 2000 748s or is it ?

Log book says 'Biposto' but it has a single seat with 748s on it ?
Mine too has the nitride forks and the Brembo Marchensini's.

I should add that mine is also a biposto although I am pretty sure the 748s came in single seat guise as well.

Delooney, my logbook says 748s although yours looks very much like an s model.

No mate, I think the 748R was the replacement for the 748 SPS.

I could be wrong though and someone who knows what they're talking about will be along in a minute

maybe the s replaced the sps in terms of engine etc as Haynes manual covers those but not the R? in which sace, R is a whole new model?

SPS replaced by SP replaced by R

They're all homologation bikes for racing and have higher spec components, different suspension, cams etc to conform with supersport homologation rules

The S can be mono or bip
The E is the lowest spec

didn't the sps have ti-con rods and come with race cans+ chip , paddock stand and cover?

S is replacement for the Biposto

S replaces both Biposto and Strada which were the base bikes but with different seat types. The S became available as either a bip or mono. Leaving the E as the entry level bike.
