right then as this is the main thread now i have some news on my mates models.

one of his workmates has advised him off the cost/value of these models and his prices ahve gone up, i think the internet should be banned from all work places. i thought i had them on the cheap as he need some extra spending money for france but unluckily hes now seen the true value.

this is what he wants for them

reynolds 2000: £165.00 hes seen the damaged one at £130
hodgson 2000: £250.00
foggy 2000: £120.00
hodgson 2003: £150.00

bit unrealistic i think but if i cant sell tham to you guys on here for close to that then he'll probably keep them

what do you guys think, sorry if ive built anyones hopes up :flame:

Twinfan
26-Apr-2005, 19:51
reynolds 2000: £165.00 hes seen the damaged one at £130

Overpriced. I paid £125 for a brand new one in the box.

hodgson 2000: £250.00

Over priced. £175ish is reasonable.

foggy 2000: £120.00

He's taking the pi55!!! One went on eBay recently for £72 and I've been offered a brand new one for £80.

hodgson 2003: £150.00

Again, taking the pi55. I've been offered a brand new one for £70.

I think deej's mate has over priced them because he isnt fussed about selling, and if someone gave him his price then obviously its worth letting them go.
no harm in that.

I think he will be keeping them. ;)

adam
26-Apr-2005, 20:03
how much did the Hodgson go for?

Twinfan
26-Apr-2005, 20:29
Didn't sell. No bids. It was a starting bid of 59 Euros (£40). Try the singapore one, they have a few in stock (23!) and are $75 (£40).

:D:D:D:D:D:D

anyone would think you didnt trust our ROYAL mail service.

apparently my mate had been viewing the site anmonously and seen what prices have been quoted so thought he'd get me to get as much as possible for them.it seems to be a sellers market at the moment. i think he'll try ebay now and see what happens or he may just keep them as hes not ebays greatest fan.

i saw that guy in singapore listings but have never seen him on ebay before, do ebay stores have their own section ????

Mr_S
27-Apr-2005, 00:08
Deej, your mate could make a tidy price on the bay. I think BB set the mark with the last one and there's one on there at the moment at £157 with 5 days to go and not all the bidders from the previous one are in there yet.

That one could get sniped as one bidder is setting lower proxies than previous atempts......

Hi guys, finally got an answer from the seller i tracked down!!

Not as good news as i thought,he had the Bostrom 2000,but not the Bayliss(shame, jasper is gagging for this one)!!:(

I ended up buying the Bostrom 2000,Reynolds 2000,Foggy 99 & a Foggy 2000!!

I'll re-sell the two Foggy's & i've been promised a Reynolds 2000,so i could let one of them go!!

Anybody interested?

Has anybody imported any models from the US?

Do I have to be concerned with any import taxes, etc? If so, how much would I have to pay?

Twinfan
27-Apr-2005, 12:16
I've not done it, but I did buy some parts for my RSV from the US. If I remember correctly, you have to pay VAT and import duty. The duty varies depending on what's being imported.

You could always get a friend to send you something from the US as a present?

Mr_S
27-Apr-2005, 13:15
The present / gift thing is irrelevant as the value limit on a gift is still only £36 max.

And you'd want it insured for more than that...

adam
27-Apr-2005, 17:15
Result, the Hodgson 2002 in Germany has been relisted, could do with this one for my set.

Wylie I bought my steve martin from a place in Canada, no problems.

Got my 2004 Haga and Haslam 999s today, and I've just ordered another 2003 Byrne (the last one was faulty). I'll get the whole BSB set in one place eventually!

adam
27-Apr-2005, 17:21

JPM
27-Apr-2005, 18:24
Must admit keep looking at the Haga/Haslam RS04's wonder if they'll bring any of the other colour/graphic schemes out as they ran several for the year, not too keen on the Highland Spring one, maybe one of the Koji ones

adam
27-Apr-2005, 18:37
thats what puts me off of them, that big Highland spring graphic, thing is i will end up getting them.

From what I've picked up from these guys so far, you've got

Hodgson 2000 (INS no 4)
and a
Reynolds 2000 (Red Bull 47)

there's probably more in there as it looks like a very full collection.

Best review your house insurance ;)

[Edited on 29-4-2005 by Mr_S]

Twinfan
29-Apr-2005, 12:29
Your best ones are:

Hodgson 2000 (Around £200)
Reynolds 2000 (Around £125)

All the other race bikes are worth somewhere between £40-75. The 2000 Rossi might be worth a touch more.

LesPaul
29-Apr-2005, 12:36
Thought the Silver Baylis might be a good one :puzzled:
Still wife can't complain about the money I've spent on them if there going up in value :D

Minichamps make the Ducati Corse boxed ones. It should say Minichamps on the box somewhere if it's one of theirs, and have removeable fairings etc.

Guys, need a bit of advice on the impact on value of damage.

Adam's just been in touch about the Hodgson I sent him and it's been damaged in the post. Obviously he's returning it to me and the cheques ripped up.

Anyway. I'm going to have to file a claim against the Royal Mail, the box was wrapped in bubble wrap (2 layers) and heavy brown paper before being sent Special Delivery, so there's no excuse against poor packaging.

What I need to know is what would be the impact on value of

Scratched seat unit (no pic until I get it back unless Adam posts one)
Broken paddock stand, apparently minor (again no pic)

There's also an issue with the left bar looking like it's been stuck back on! Which I'm concerned happened in the shop before I bought it (returned, repaired, re-sold???)

Anyway, I need some guide as to how much of an impact it would have on the value (%ages would be good)

Thanks in advance guys, and Adam, I'm really sorry you've been let down. :(

Thankfully I insured it, maybe I should have had those armed guards after all..

Hi,
Claim against the post office(i presume it went special delivery) and use print outs of current Hodgson sales as proof of value. You shouldn't have aproblem.I bought my last one for about £200,so you should get that back.

Mr_S
29-Apr-2005, 20:45
Yep, special delivery. Good idea abou the printouts from recent ones.

Anyone got the ebay links for recent hodgsons that have sold?

I've got the one Baylissboy won, and the ones that are on ebay at the moment, anyone got anything else?

adam
29-Apr-2005, 20:49
Jason I feel bad having to send it back to you. Hopefully the PO will sort you out without any problem.
sorry mate.

Mr_S
29-Apr-2005, 20:56
Adam, nothing to feel bad about, you didn't do anything to cause the problem, and the whole point was you wanted a mint one. I'm gutted that you've got to keep looking / bidding.

Just glad I've not been to the bank yet, it's a lot easier to just rip the cheque up than mucking about sending cheques back and forth.

PO will sort it out, eventually, I'm sure. But they're bound to try to wriggle at first.

Anyone know if you can break these things for spares :)

adam
29-Apr-2005, 21:00
lol, always look on the bright side hey Jason, ill take the side fairings and box.:D

Mr_S
29-Apr-2005, 21:05
You've already got 'em ;)

They may turn up on ebay as spares soon :)

adam
29-Apr-2005, 21:23
good point i do still have them. I will get my wife to post it back to you on tuesday, hope thats ok, im working all weekend and bank holiday.

Mr_S
29-Apr-2005, 21:47
No problem, I'll not be able to get to the post office to complain 'til next week anyway.

Twinfan
29-Apr-2005, 23:55
With damage, I reckon you're looking at abour £125 for the Hodgson????

Mr_S
30-Apr-2005, 00:06
£125's better than I expected actually, but gives me a figure to work with.

So I'd be looking at a minimum £75 payout from good old Royal Mail then.

At least I know what to be aiming for (£200.00) and what to accept as an absolute minimum (£75.00)

Cheers

JS

Twinfan

It's just a guess remember, it might not go for that much. However, the Hodgson is a rare one so it may do...

Jasper
30-Apr-2005, 10:38
I would push for £180+ for the Hodgson. It's irrelevant that it originally cost £39.99.Watch the couple on e-bay.Wait 'till the auction's are finished and print off the value sale prices as proof of value. You could always send a "receipt" of the price that Adam paid you as well(that would have been £180- ish as well-wouldn't it!;)

Send them along with the receipt from the special delivery, the Minichamps and your claim form(not forgetting to claim for you postage back for both sending it originally AND getting it back AND sending it to them-trust me it adds up!!)If you are not happy with their answer or valuation, the ombudsman is great! As you can guess,i've actually done this before!

baylissboy
30-Apr-2005, 15:35
Sorry you've had problems guys, bloody Royal Mail!!

Having said that,i've had at least 10 of these models through the post & never had any damaged!!

Oh,me & my big mouth,i'm expecting the Hodgson 2000,Reynolds 2000,Bostrom 2000,Foggy 1999 & Foggy 2000 to arrive very soon!! I really would be very upset if any of those were my first to be damaged in the post!!!:flame:

Any news on the Foggy test bike Jasper? Is it the rarest of the rare!!

Jasper
30-Apr-2005, 16:25
Hi BB,
No,it's getting very weired.I have had two e-mails back from Minichamps. They have so far not even come close to saying what, where and when.BUT have asked;"where is the bike now","where did it come from".Very intriguing.I'm wondering if they were planning on doing this model, ran a few off, then decided against it.only speculating. In all fairness,if it comes back as not worth a penny,i think it looks superb so will be happy to keep it.In fact i would go far as to say it's the best looking bike i've got!!We shall see.I am going to ring them on Monday(i don't know if it's a bank holiday over there?) and speak to them.I shall let you know.Best you get that Bayliss boxed up.You KNOW one of those will come up again, but as for this one..........................................?;)

I hope it's not something that got stolen from them :(

Jasper
30-Apr-2005, 21:07
Mmmm.I hadn't thought of that,One would have thought if it had been stolen and they'd gone to all the effort of tooling for it,that they would have produced it anyway. It's not as if someone could nmake a quick run of counterfeits!!

adam
