Paul,
not sure what tyres you normally run, but I tried a Diablo corser on the rear for my trip last weekend. I usually use an BT010 front & BT020 rear, but have been eating rear tyres (lucky to get 2k5 out of one).
We did about 1500 miles over the weekend and this rear doesn't look like its done much work at all.
Tried a Dragon GTS before that but the sides scrubbed up quite severely.
Cheers,
John. (p.s. all of the above on an 03 ST4S abs)
i do a lot of miles and was getting really peeved off with the fact that i was changing rears at about 5k and fronts more often than that
basicly i couldn't afford it
i decided to bight the bullet and put on some rock hard macadams knowing that i would have to adjust my riding style accordingly
well i am now on my second set and what do you know i aint had to slow down at all.
i really don't think you need 208rr for normal to fast road riding
but it might just be me!

I'm going for standard D208's like i've got on now. They have just about had it at 4500 miles for the pair (including four trackdays). i wated to get them ordered today but its the sizes that i didnt know.
Cheers guys.

Errrr.......
Paul's bike is an ST4 - standard fit for the rear is a 170 not 180 - that's for the 4S.
use a 180 on mine an all (st2)

use 170 here on ST2. The 180 is just a posing tyre :D 170 will give better turning profile. Boh.

Hmmm, the plot thickens. Its got a 180/55 already fitted. The tyre man says his book lists either a 180 or a 170 for my bike. I'm more than happy with the way it handles with the 180 fitted so i'm reluctant to risk going to a 170 even though its a little bit cheaper!
i felt an improvment when i went up to a 180
could just be down to that new tyre feel though
