mph speedo - can it be 'rolled' back?

looking to buy a MPH speed for my 748 rather than the annoying KPH I have at the mo'.
Can you guys have a look a this pic I was sent by someone selling one -

does this look like a MPH speedo/odometer to you?
can I wind the clock back to 6000miles without damaging it?
also, do UK bikes have a C or F temp guage?

My official UK 2000 748S has the same MPH speedo with a Farenheit temp guage!

I think Ducati made a choice to only produce one MPH speedo, which is obviously suitable for both the US and UK market, along with a single KPH speedo.

As for the temp guage ... well they are all a little mixed!

Don't let it put you off.

Most speedos can be disassembled to get at the mileage readings. You can then separate the numbers (by prising/pulling them apart) and rotating them to reset it to the desired mileage.

I don't know about Ducati speedos specifically, but I'm sure they won't be any different to your average cable-driven car speedo.

Ditto mine Antonye.Mines a UK bike bike and is the same as yours with 55mph in RED (not yellow!) on the speedo - HA,HA and the temp guage in Farenheit.
Your correct in one speedo for UK and USA and sure,temp guages are from the huge assorted spare parts bin Ducati seem to own,as in anything seems to go !!

Its in MPH - you could get repalcement dials - I have put white ones on mine. Easy to do and looks great. It is possible to 'adjust' the mileage reading.

If you get a later model speedo you get MPH is big letters and KPH in smaller just as the Eurocrats like 'em

Speedos are expensive, especially on bikes, as they're one of the first pieces to go in a head-on smash. They're also used by unscrupulous types to alter the mileage, so they always command a high price.

So 80 quid is very cheap, especially to include the temp guage!

You won't wreck it as long as you're careful. The numbers are just cogs that are made of plastic, so don't force anything too much (like using a screwdriver as a lever!) and you won't damage anything. Just take it easy and it will be fine.

Check the price of a new unit from Ducati - mine cost £104 brand new couple of years ago - guarenteed and reads zero miles.
